10 Forgotten WWE Masked Men
5. Battle Kat
A somewhat ill-advised attempt to replicate or capitalise on the success of the Tiger Mask character in Japan, Battle Kat was introduced in late 1990 to a lukewarm reception.
Despite only wrestling 10 official matches in WWE, the Battle Kat character has a strange and confusing history. His debut TV match saw him dance down to the ring holding his cape in place due to it clearly not having any way of staying together. Brady Boone, the man behind the mask went up against enhanced talent Bob Bradley who, after only a few matches, actually replaced Boone as the Battle Kat before the character ran out of lives.
With PAW written across his attire, Battle Kat made cat-like movements during his matches, he would clean his "paws", rub his ears and even went as far as to introduce a strange pounce as his finisher.
Lasting only a couple of months, Battle Kat slinked away to lick his wounds with his tail tucked between his legs...the whole thing coming across as a catastrophe, a purrfect example of how not to implement a popular foreign gimmick. I have more cat puns but I have a word count to worry about.
