10 Former Lucha Underground Stars Who Found Success In Other Promotions

In late 2014, it was announced WWE had signed Willie Mack to a developmental deal, but before he could report to NXT, he was released. He claims the company told him it was a medical issue, but regardless of the reason, their loss ended up being Lucha Underground's gain.

Mack arrived just in time for the tail end of Season 1 and blew everyone away with what he could do in the ring despite his size. His highly entertaining encounter with Cage at Ultima Lucha led him to becoming a bigger star on the show in subsequent seasons, which involved him winning the Trios Championship on two separate occasions.

He was unfortunately never able to claim the Lucha Underground Championship but came close in memorable matches with Johnny Mundo and Matanza Cueto. Just after Season 4 wrapped up, Mack broadened his horizons by wrestling for Ring of Honor, the National Wrestling Alliance, and IMPACT Wrestling, and claimed the NWA National Championship in October 2018.

Mack now competes exclusively for IMPACT where he's been teaming with Rich Swann since summer. Surely WWE would give him another look once he hits free agency again, but in the meantime, he'll continue to hone his craft wherever he goes and amaze the masses like only he can.
