With an amateur wrestling background, it shouldn't have come as any surprise that Jeff Cobb was offered a WWE tryout at the Performance Center in late 2014. When that didn't amount to anything, he signed with Lucha Underground soon after and was rechristened as Matanza Cueto, the kayfabe brother of evil authority figure Dario Cueto.

It can be argued that he had the best debut of anyone in the history of the show. He arrived in Aztec Warfare II, eliminated almost everyone, and emerged as the new Lucha Underground champion. He went on to reign as champion for the remainder of Season 2 and well into Season 2, contesting classics with everyone from Prince Puma, Fenix to Cage and Ivelisse.

His only losses in one-on-one action came at the hands of Pentagon Jr. and Johnny Mundo on the Season 4 finale. That same night, he was killed off the show by Mundo, allowing him to sign full-time with Ring of Honor in the fall of 2018.

In his first match as a member of the ROH roster, he became the ROH World Television champion and undefeated for the next nine months. Cobb has cooled off a bit since then, but there's no denying that he wouldn't be as big a star today without his work in Lucha Underground.
