10 Former Lucha Underground Stars Who Found Success In Other Promotions

Getting cut from WWE developmental in September 2009 could have very well been the peak of Brian Cage's career, but he didn't let his departure define him and instead made a name for himself on the independent scene.

Cage wrestled for IMPACT and PWG in the years following his exit before finally getting his big break in Lucha Underground in late 2014. He was brought in as part of the first season and immediately ascended to super stardom in a tremendous feud with Prince Puma over the Lucha Underground Championship.

In addition to holding the Gift of the Gods Championship for a time, he had enough amazing matches across all four seasons to be a true success story in Lucha Underground. He was one of the many wrestlers to compete simultaneously for IMPACT during that last season and received a slow and steady push to the top from the moment he arrived.

So far in IMPACT, Cage has won the Impact X-Division Championship and is the current reigning Impact World champion. Based off the run he's had there, it's only a matter of time before WWE or AEW come knocking on his door.

Even at 35, he's doing his best work right now and deserves as big of a platform as possible.
