10 Former WWE Midcarders Who Had Main Event Finishers
7. Chris Masters (The Master Lock)
Choosing to resurrect a submission hold seen so rarely in WWE since the turn of the millennium that even Big Foot sightings had become more frequent, Chris Masters made excellent use of the Master Lock, which was a more aggressive version of the full nelson. The Master Lock was performed by standing behind his opponent and extending both hands up under the armpits while holding the neck with a palm-to-palm grip and interlaced fingers. Then The Masterpiece would proceed to shake his trapped foe from side to side until they lost consciousness (and the match). Masters was so confident his move was unbreakable that he offered weekly challenges to plucky opponents willing to take the move on inevitably ending in their failure and being tossed from side to side like a rag doll. With arms like tree stumps, it would be two years before someone finally managed to pry open Masers fingers and overcome the Master Lock Challenge, but by then the move was well and truly established as a main event level finisher (even if Masters remained a midcarder). Similar finishers used by more successful wrestlers: Superstar Billy Graham, Ken Patera, Hercules Hernandez
