10 Former WWE Stars Who Have Flourished In AEW
1. Jon Moxley
Could there be anyone else for the top spot?
There was no getting away from the horrendous use of Dean Ambrose near the end of his WWE run, and the WWE Chronicle documenting his return from injury showed a man who had lost his smile. When it was announced he wouldn't be re-signing with the company, people couldn't believe it.
But let's face it, he was always treated as 'the third guy' from The Shield. Considering the opportunities and titles thrown the way of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, it was clear that Ambrose wasn't seen in the same way. Which now, three years into his incredible AEW run, looks like a huge mistake by WWE.
Currently on his third reign as AEW Heavyweight Champion, Moxley has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, he can carry a company on his shoulders. From his amazing promos to his gut wrenching brawls, Mox has redefined the modern badass, even openly discussing his problems with addiction in the middle of the ring.
He is the heart and soul of All Elite Wrestling, feels like the safest pair of hands in the company, and is also the man of the people. 2022 has been his year and it shows no signs of slowing down. The man bleeds AEW, and regularly does for them, and it's undeniable that leaving WWE was the best move he ever made.
