10 Former WWE Stars Who Have Flourished In AEW
5. FTR
Even though Vince McMahon was pretty blatant with his disdain for tag team wrestling, it seemed impossible that he would get the then-Revival so wrong. A throwback to old school tag teams, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder were so good at their craft, that they looked set to dominate the relatively bereft WWE tag team scene.
It never really worked out that way, and they spent more time feuding with the Lucha House Party and rubbing their asses across the floor than they spent doing what they do best. A real shame, especially after their superb NXT run.
Their jump to All Elite Wrestling was a welcome one.
Yes, they have been number one contenders since April with little to show for it with regards to the AEW Tag Team Championships, but it's hardly like FTR have floundered in AEW.
They arrived during the pandemic era, under their new names of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, and instantly, the inserted themselves in the ongoing feud between Hangman Page and the Elite. They quickly acquired the AEW Tag Titles and were confirmed as smart, devious heels.
Their run with the Pinnacle was a little bit underwhelming, but through their sheer quality, FTR organically turned babyface, with the crowd accepting them as the premier tag team in the world. They've racked up title reigns with pretty much every company and are now, quite rightly, considered the best duo in wrestling.
A far cry from shaving each others backs on live TV.
