10 Former WWE Stars Who Have Flourished In AEW
6. Toni Storm
Toni Storm should have been a slam dunk on the WWE main roster.
The current interim AEW Women's Champion has a great look, bucketloads of charisma and in-ring skills that belie her age. At just 26 years old, the New Zealander has years ahead to improve, but she is already operating at a high level.
She proved in the Mae Young Classic in 2018, winning the final at the historic Evolution Pay Per View, and then further still on NXT. Soon, she was sent to the main roster, where she had multiple custard pies slammed in her face.
Literally.
Brave enough to bet on herself, Storm requested her release from the company in December 2021. Upon it being granted, she rocked up in All Elite Wrestling three months later. Considering how the likes of Ruby Soho and Athena have struggled to make an impact, Toni settled in quickly.
Instantly placed as a major concern in the Women's Title picture, Storm eventually picked up the interim strap when current champion and close ally Thunder Rosa went down injured. Entrusted to steer the calamitous ship that is the AEW women's division, Storm has thrived, and the chances are, when Thunder Rosa returns for her spot, Tony Khan may well keep with the current captain.
