Alberto Del Rio's WWE career was relatively brief, but he accomplished a lot, winning two WWE Championships, two World Heavyweight Championships, the Money in the Bank briefcase, and the 2011 Royal Rumble. The last several months of his WWE career were less eventful, though -- after losing the World Heavyweight Title to John Cena in October of 2013, Del Rio floundered, and by summer of 2014, he was reportedly considering leaving the company when his contract expired.

Before his contract ended, Del Rio had a backstage altercation that led to his dismissal from the company -- when a corporate employee made a racist remark, Del Rio slapped him, and WWE fired the former champion rather than face a lawsuit. Allegedly, Triple H himself told Del Rio that the door was open for a return in six months, but Del Rio, angered that the company didn't have his back, outright refused ever returning.

After leaving the company, Del Rio returned to Mexico and became an outspoken critic of the racism he encountered while in WWE. Eventually, he and the company reached a settlement that prevented Del Rio from disparaging WWE, but despite his silence, Del Rio will surely never return.
