10 Former WWE Talents Who Thrived in Lucha Underground

Cage is another individual that you might not have known was under contract to WWE at one point. In fact, he wasn't just there for a cup of coffee; he was signed from June 2008 through September 2009 and had a run down in developmental, which at that time was branded as Florida Championship Wrestling.

In the years following his WWE release, he made a name for himself on the independent scene and ultimately ended up in Lucha Underground. With a guy of his freakishly impressive build, it was only logical to make him the roster's top monster heel. He ran through his opposition and caught the attention of fans for what he could do for a guy his size. He's basically their Brock Lesnar but even more agile, if that's possible.

Although he failed to win the Lucha Underground Championship in Season 1, he did win over the audience and became a huge fan favorite in Season 2. As of this writing, he is currently in possession of the Gift of the Gods Championship and will contend for the top prize on next week's episode.

What boggles my mind is neither WWE nor TNA saw Cage for the star could have been. Had they kept him under contract, however, who knows if he would have evolved into the talent he is today.
