If Batista’s movie career hadn't blown up they way it has, Brock Lesnar vs. Batista may well have happened already. The Animal returned to WWE and won the 2014 Royal Rumble, but he found himself lost under the weight of support for Daniel Bryan. Batista ended up tapping out in the main event of WrestleMania XXX, and was gone again just a couple of months later.

This match was hinted at on a number of occasions in 2014, but the combination of Batista’s underwhelming return and growing career as a film star stopped it from happening, seemingly for good. 'The Animal' vs. 'The Beast Incarnate' remains a huge money match that WWE left on the table.

The similarities between the two extend further than animalistic monikers. They both entered WWE developmental at similar times, and were a part of the OVW generation that also gave us John Cena and Randy Orton. They both made their main roster debut in 2002, although their careers went in dramatically different directions from that point on.

A stare-down between the pair on RAW in 2014 was the closest fans ever got to an actual singles bout between these two behemoths. Is it the biggest match that Brock Lesnar will never have? Probably.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
