10 Friends Turned Foes In The UFC
2. Travis Browne And Andrei Arlovski
Sometimes when your friend becomes your foe, it can be bloody painful if you're the victor.
Never was that sentiment more prevalent than in Travis Browne and Andrei Arlovski's battle at UFC 187.
Arlovski was the underdog heading into their bout but that didn't stop him from overwhelming Browne in the first round en route to a shocking victory.
What happened next provided the twist.
Arlovski, with tears in his eyes in a post-fight interview, apologized to his brother after the fight. Browne then objected and told his mate to never 'f**king say you're sorry' and concluded by reminding him it was his job.
The win stands out as one of Arlovski's finest moments in the UFC and it added to the momentum he had started to rebuild upon his return to the company after six years away. Browne on the other hand would never rediscover his form and would lose four of his next five fights.
Not all friends have to stay enemies after a fight; it's all just business at the end of the day. As Arlovski put it, "friendship for me, right now, is more important than being on top."
