10 Fun Facts From My Trip To WWE WrestleMania 29

8. Foley Pins Jericho In The Garden

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VD6kY3QEYM I was more excited about the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in Madison Square Garden than I was about the extravaganza the following night. In one of the most star-studded classes ever I'd get to see Trish Stratus, Booker T, Bob Backlund, Bruno Sammartino and Mick Foley get inducted into the hallowed Hall. I vividly remember reading online that week that there was talk that Foley's induction wouldn't make the TV broadcast. It was the first time I saw fans on Twitter really create a movement as WWE were bombarded with Tweets and Facebook posts demanding that the Hardcore Legend's induction be a part of the broadcast. Thankfully, the company came to their senses and included his speech on the USA Network presentation. Even though the former Cactus Jack opened the show, he made sure his speech was one of the most memorable of the night. Being in The Garden to see Foley inducted, the same place he'd watched Snuka jump off of the cage, was emotional. The pinnacle of his speech was when he pinned Chris Jericho on stage with CM Punk as the impromptu referee after he dropped one last elbow (Jericho had constantly made reference to Foley having never beaten him in his autobiographies). The New York faithful loved Foley that night. There were so many fans with Dude Love t-shirts, Mankind masks and Cactus Jack apparel, and it showed that most of the crowd were there to see Mrs Foley's Baby Boy come home.
