10 Fun Facts From My Trip To WWE WrestleMania 29

7. Bruno Sammartino Comes Home

I got the chance to interview Bruno Sammartino in the summer of 2012 and he insisted he wouldn't go into the Hall of Fame. Thankfully, The Living Legend came around (with some persuading from Triple H) and agreed to headline MSG one more time. I interviewed Bruno again just one week before his induction and I could tell how much the fans meant to him and that his fans were the main reason he was agreeing to come back. A lot of people in the arena were tired by the time Sammartino came out on stage and I could feel that they were being more polite than truly embracing Bruno's induction. Maybe it's because I'd interviewed him twice or perhaps my love for learning new stuff about the history of wrestling contributed to it, but seeing Bruno Sammartino in The Garden one more time is a moment I'll never forget. After his induction, Vince McMahon gave him a hug and everyone celebrated on stage. Then of course, Bob Backlund ran into the crowd and fell on his arse. Oh Bob, please don't change. Don't you ever change.
