10 Fun Facts From My Trip To WWE WrestleMania 29

6. My Buddy Makes WrestleMania With Seven Minutes To Spare

My friend Oly called me in September of 2012 to tell me his dilemma: his cousin was getting married in Scotland on Saturday April 6th, 2013, just one day before WrestleMania. I was asked to come up with a travel plan that would allow him to go to the wedding and still get to WrestleMania the next day. Never one to be defeated, here is what I came up with.... Saturday April 6th - Attend wedding in Scotland, go to reception and stay until the end (3am). Sunday April 7th - Get to Glasgow Airport for a 6am flight to London, get 10am flight from London to New York, arrive in Newark at 2pm, dump bag at hotel and come and meet the rest of us at the stadium for show that starts at 7pm. Oly had plenty of time and I figured my plan was bulletproof. The Saturday went off without a hitch. He attended the wedding, got drunk and made his way to the airport for his 6am flight to London. Then it all went wrong. Here's how his day panned out... Sunday April 7th - 6am Flight to London delayed by two hours, Oly misses London flight connection, stranded at Heathrow till the next flight which takes off in the afternoon. Arrives at Newark at 5pm. He hops in a taxi to our hotel in Manhattan, arrives there at 5:50pm to drop off his bags. At 6pm, he's in a taxi to MetLife stadium but is stuck in traffic the whole way. He arrives at MetLife at 6:53pm. As I was watching the pre-show bout with The Miz and Wade Barrett, my phone rang and Oly had finally arrived. I sprinted down to the front gate and passed his ticket through security. We had just two minutes to spare and as we finally sat down in our seats there was 23 while seconds until the pay-per-view went live on the air. Oly proceeded to fall asleep for most of the show due to a combination of exhaustion and being hungover. He does fondly remember Undertaker/CM Punk and the fireworks, though, so there's that.
