For as long as I could, I clinged to the hope that we wouldn't get a rematch with The Rock and John Cena. It's not that I disliked their first match and, in fact, I thought it was fantastic. But, if you can't top it, don't go back to it. The ultimate problem with the match was that Rock had spent two years badmouthing Cena and saying everything that adult fans thought about him. We all knew Cena would beat him and then Rock would endorse him. The problem was that John Cena was the same character he was at the beginning of the rivalry. The fact that The Great One's character would all of a sudden be a Cena supporter made zero sense. As the bout unfolded, our entire section was bored. For the first half of the match, I felt like I was watching a video tape of the previous year. Then for the second half of the title match, it became False Finish Mania. Perhaps, I'm too hard on this match, but it didn't click for me and it's one of the only WrestleMania main events I've only watched back once and decided there's no need for me to watch it again. When the referee's hand hit the mat for the third time and John Cena had won, we got our jackets and decided to beat the crowd back to Manhattan. Again, it wasn't a dislike of John Cena, it was more disappointment at the lazy booking that didn't get the Cena character any more over with the fanbase and seemed to be a waste of a main event.
