10 Future WWE Champions Currently On NXT
6. Velveteen Dream
Compared to many on this list, Velveteen Dream's NXT career has been something of a slow-burner so far, the highlight of his two-year stint being his appearance in last month's North American Title Ladder Match.
Combine this with the fact that his persona is that of a larger-than-life oddball (meaning he is therefore expected to fill the role vacated by someone like Goldust or Woken Matt when he gets to the main roster) and he has been somewhat overlooked as a future world champion.
But, though he still has a couple of years more of service down in Orlando first, he may well be the wildcard of the pack. After all, how many 22-year-olds are currently competing week-in, week-out on WWE TV?
It's not just age that he has in his favour either. He's clearly a gifted competitor, and that larger-than-life oddball thing? Undertaker, Mankind and Bray Wyatt had that going for them as well, and they all reached the top of the ladder (in the case of Bray, promptly falling off once he did).
