2. Kazuchika Okada Vs. Kenny Omega (12/8/2017)
Is anyone surprised? A world where Omega vs. Okada III wasn’t an instant five-star classic is a cold and dark place. They are wrestling soul mates and every time they step in the ring, it works.
If there were a worry, it was whether they could do in under half an hour what they had previously done in around an hour. They showed such pondering was a waste of time, though, by starting as if someone had set their gear on fire. V-Triggers were triggering and dropkicks were flying and there was a moment when you thought they might go the other way and finish this one quickly.
That wasn’t the story they were looking to tell, though, and instead, we saw an Omega who wanted to prove a point. To prove that not only was he as good as Okada but he was better. He worked over the champion’s neck with a fury that was at times scary. It was all in aid of setting up that One-Winged Angel which he hit in the centre of the ring for the first time and got the win that he had worked so hard for. With one win apiece and one draw the only question now is, when do we get this again?
