10 Genius Hints WWE Dropped About Future Feuds

9. Christian's Jealousy

By mid-2001, the WWF thought that Edge had the chops to become a top-tier singles star. So, they booked him to win King Of The Ring and started thinking about all the possibilities for their grinning Canadian star. There was only one problem: Christian. Edge was still technically in a tag with his kayfabe brother.

Cue greatness.

Christian started behaving like a jealous, delusional brat and insisted on carrying Edge's trophy everywhere. The way he hammed up each performance, doted after the cup and polished it was absolutely wonderful. Slowly but surely, Christian began to believe that he was the 'King', not his partner.

On the 3 September 2001 Raw, things finally bubbled over. Christian turned on Edge, whined that he'd been overlooked and then promised to take the Intercontinental Title away to prove that he was the better man. The KOTR desperation fed neatly into that.
