There was a time when it looked like WWE had dropped the ball on Bayley vs. Sasha Banks. Their on/off 'frenemies' angle was dire in 2018, and comedy segments in "therapy" failed to rekindle the magic of 'Anger Management' skits involving Daniel Bryan and Kane from years before.

2019 rescued things by turning Bayley heel and putting the band back together as an unstoppable tag-team force. The pair, despite being depicted as best friends ever since, smartly sprinkled some suggestions of discontent into their presentation. Just look at the pic above - Banks couldn't take her eyes off that SmackDown Women's Title.

Other notable plot points include Bayley repeatedly hogging the spotlight, treating Sasha like a bag-carrier and generally rubbing it in that she (not Banks) was making history with a lengthy title reign. Sasha's little glances and upset looks sold that she was putting these insults away for a rainy day.

Then, boom. Bayley beat Banks to the punch by turning.
