10 Genius Ways WWE Wrestlers Survived “Go Away” Heat
5. Trish Stratus
Considering she’s one of the most celebrated women’s wrestlers of all time, it’s easy to focus on the positives of Trish Stratus’ career. Still, she had some pretty humble beginnings in Vince’s land of giants, and whilst it didn’t last long enough to reach a particularly raucous level, there were WWE fans who didn’t feel as though Trish belonged.
Whilst she had been a wrestling fan growing up, audiences didn’t know this and only saw a model jumping into the company. The 25-year-old Stratus was somewhat arbitrarily put with midcard heels Test and Albert and acted as the newly formed tag team of T&A.
However, Trish didn’t have much of a character beyond looking attractive and wearing cowboy hats for some reason. It didn’t help that the unit was trying to get a foothold in a division stuffed with the most entertaining teams of all time; the Hardyz, Dudleyz, Too Cool and Edge & Christian.
As such, at Backlash 2000 Trish would prove her worth by taking part in her first major bump, allowing Bubba-Ray Dudley to put her through a table with a viscous powerbomb. This former model putting her body on the line earned her the respect of fans and, most likely, the locker room too.
From here Trish took part in all manner of Attitude Era highlights, including of course her all-important clashes with Lita and many WWE Women’s Championship title reigns.
