10 Genuine Reasons For Modern Wrestling Fans To Be Excited
3. CM Punk And FTR
Eight years ago, one of pro wrestling's biggest box office draws walked out of the world's biggest promotion while he was still the top dog. CM Punk had built the foundation of his career in the indies, gaining enough notice to pop up on WWE's radar. It became pretty obvious rather early on that Punk didn't play well with the WWE brass.
In 2014, CM Punk was fired from WWE on his wedding day. As Punk was on his way out, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood (then known as Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson) were making their way in. In 2020, the duo who would come to be known as FTR left the WWE over creative differences. It's surprising that the two weren't interested in the "lipstick, tassles and glowsticks" gimmick that was being fed to them by Vince. In May of that year, FTR made their first appearance on AEW Dynamite. Rolling around to 2021, AEW premiered their biggest acquisition to date: CM Punk.
Even once FTR was signed to All Elite Wrestling, their booking was spurious at best. Now that CM Punk has breathed new life into the promotion, he's begun teaming up with FTR in a new stable of sorts. The name? CMFTR of course.
Despite Punk's recent injury, these three will be poised to dominate the trios division, and perhaps the entire company.
