Kevin Fertig was a massive flop as Mordecai in 2004. He was brought in with the intention of a major feud with The Undertaker but was shunted back to OVW when WWE lost faith in him (and he got into a bar fight which resulted in a messy lawsuit). Still, WWE gave it another try in 2006. They assigned Fertig to the ECW brand and gave him a new gimmick: he was rebranded as the vampire, Kevin Thorn. It was a lot more successful than Mordecai was, that's for sure. Thorn's act had a bit of a sexual edge to it thanks to his manager Ariel (Shelly Martinez). That incarnation of the character wouldn't fit in the PG era. But WWE could do a kid-friendly vampire character, if they wanted to. It's amazing that WWE didn't do it in the late 2000s in order to capitalise on the Twilight craze. Fertig hasn't been too active in the wrestling business as of late and is 38. His time in WWE has come and gone, but a vampire gimmick could be a winner, if done right.
