10 Gimmicks WWE Should Steal From Television (And Who Could Use Them)

7. Charles Montgomery Burns (The Simpsons) - Various

WWE isn’t about to start depicting the rich as evil, come off it. Vince McMahon is an obscenely wealthy man who benefits from the horrors of capitalism, a man who has compiled more money than anyone could require, accumulating his vast wealth on the broken backs and broken hearts of men and women across the world. An evil old rich man would be too close to home.

The Simpsons is one of the great television shows, a heartwarming comedic romp through modern American family life, but it is often forgotten just how sinister Charles Montgomery Burns is. He blocked out the sun. Burns might be a withering old man, but he is fundamentally evil and only cares for accumulating wealth, through the suffering of others if possible.

Vince McMahon is WWE’s Montgomery Burns, but the last thing we need is for the McMahons to be on TV in any way at all. Give the gimmick to an unknown performer in developmental and see what can happen. Cal Bloom? Denzel Dejournette? Sidney Bateman? Heck, maybe even Timothy Thatcher could use the gimmick? On second thoughts…
