10 Goldberg WWE Matches You Completely Forgot About

4. Randy Orton - RAW August 2003

For the majority of his 2003 WWE run Goldberg feuded with Triple H and Evolution, taking on the dastardly faction in a variety of tag team and handicap bouts over the summer and autumn. Randy Orton may have been the Intercontinental Champion by the time Matt Hardy was being destroyed by Goldberg in January 2004, but in August 2003 he was still the weakest link in the Evolution chain.

Orton took on Goldberg on an episode of RAW ahead of only the second ever Elimination Chamber match, and the ongoing feud between Goldberg and Evolution pretty much guaranteed shenanigans in this one. Ric Flair got involved after the referee took a bump, only for RAW Sheriff Stone Cold Steve Austin to come down and lay down the law. Flair ate a Stone Cold Stunner for his troubles, Austin eventually counting the three after Goldberg hit Orton with the Jackhammer.

13 years later it would be Orton who would face Brock Lesnar in The Beast Incarnate's penultimate match before his rematch with Goldberg at Survivor Series. Over those 13 years the idea of Goldberg vs. Orton has become something of a dream match for some, a match that would surely be more competitive than their first singles bout in the summer of 2003.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
