10 Great Chris Benoit Moments WWE Shouldn't Let You Forget
3. The Radicalz Debut On WWF Television
In 2000, it seemed the Monday Night War was nearing its end. The WWF had been on top for almost two years and WCW seemed to be sinking further and further into the abyss. Vince McMahon's promotion was edgier, better written, had bigger stars, and was producing fantastic television. For years before, WWF stars like Lex Luger, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Jim Duggan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash had headed south to WCW for better paychecks and less work days. By 2000, the tide had turned and stars like Chris Jericho and the Big Show were debuting on WWF television. The real sign that the end was near for World Championship Wrestling came at a 2000 edition of Monday Night Raw in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In one night, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn all jumped ship and had joined Vince McMahon. To say the fans in attendance that night were surprised to see them would be a huge understatement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAed9W9XnPY This jump was the final death knell for WCW. While the New World Order may have been the company's cash cow for awhile, Guerrero, Benoit, Malenko, and Saturn were the backbone of the company. They were the workhorses that put on the great matches while the announcers talked about Hulk Hogan and the nWo. Without these four men, WCW would cease to exist within a year.
