10 Great Wrestlers Who Couldn't Have A Good Match Together

4. Shawn Michaels & Mr. Perfect

What happens when you pair the finest in-ring storyteller in WWE history with one of the greatest technicians the sport has ever seen on the second biggest show of the year? Mediocrity, apparently.

Fans and critics were salivating at the prospect of Shawn Michaels wrestling Mr. Perfect at SummerSlam 1993, but it didn't deliver. Instead of producing a classic on par with his King of the Ring bout against Bret Hart a few months prior, Perfect laboured his way through the contest, and the severity of his escalating back problems had never been more apparent.

Perfect's declining health aside, him and Shawn showed little demonstrable in-ring chemistry, and the match was further marred by its odd layout. Michaels spent several minutes working his opponent's injured back, but it went nowhere, and Diesel eventually pulled Perfect out of the ring, forcing a count-out finish after just 11 minutes.

Most fans expected a technical classic, but Perfect vs. Michaels was nothing but a low impact stalemate. They had a stronger match on Prime Time Wrestling back in 1991, but never delivered on the level they should have, with Perfect embarking upon what would be a temporary retirement a few months after SummerSlam.
