10 Great Wrestlers WWE Must Sign For The Cruiserweight Revival

8. Pete Dunne

Another young British wrestler with a boatload of talent, the self-styled “Bruiserweight” isn’t exactly the archetypal Cruiserweight. As his nickname suggests, Dunne wrestles a stiff, hard-hitting style that involves a lot of strikes and slams, and he largely eschews the flips, dashes, and dives adopted by many of his peers.

This is a good thing. Every division needs variety, and just as there are a number of different styles peppered throughout the Cruiserweight Classic talent sheet, WWE would be wise to keep the revived division diverse. As Daniel Bryan said on the CWC’s opening Bracketology show: “Cruiserweight isn’t a style: it’s a weight class,” and with Dunne wrestling more like a Japanese heavyweight than a flier, he’d be sure to stand-out.

Dunne lost his CWC qualifying match to Jack Gallagher back in April, but his mere presence in that match puts him on WWE’s radar. He’s already having great matches with the likes of Ospreay and Noam Dar, and will soon make his American debut as a participant in PWG’s annual Battle of Los Angeles tournament.

Look for him to be British wrestling’s next big breakout star.
