10 Great Wrestlers WWE Must Sign For The Cruiserweight Revival
5. Marty Scurll
Alongside Will Ospreay and Zack Sabre Jr., Marty Scurll is one of British wrestling’s great young hopes. His name often gets lost in the shuffle among his more celebrated countrymen, but “The Villain” is a wrestler on the rise.
Though not quite as masterful as Zack on the mat or Will in the air, Scurll incorporates elements of both styles excellently, and has succeeded in re-popularising the Crossface Chickenwing and making it one of the most over submission holds in independent wrestling.
As great as Scurll is in the ring, however, it’s his character work that really sets him aside from his peers. Scurll is in a league of his own in this regard, and his rebirth from “Party Marty” to the cunning, treacherous “Villain” has sent him stratospheric. Scurll just oozes charisma, and even when working as a heel, his crowd reactions are always among the night’s loudest.
He’s the kind of wrestler that immediately grabs your attention and keeps you glued to the screen throughout, such is his star power.
The technical skill, the look, the gimmick, the promos: Scurll has it all. When this man comes waltzing down the ramp with his fur coat, Aviator shades, and umbrella, you know you’re watching a gifted showman at work. Having already worked with some of the world’s best wrestlers (including WWE’s own AJ Styles), it’s only a matter of time before Scurll gets the call from Titan.
