3. The Elite
Between December 2020 and September 2021, The Elite certainly lived up to their name. The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega aren’t to everyone’s taste, but their recent AEW run has seen some exceptional work from the long time friends and collaborators, and their respective title runs have been a huge boon to the still-young company.
As part of a run of all-time great tag matches, the Bucks wound up taking the tag straps from FTR in an instant classic, and shortly after this, Omega snatched the World Title from Jon Moxley. Omega’s belt collector gimmick would see him add further accolades to his collection, and with the booting open of the Forbidden Door and addition of The Good Brothers, The Elite had the Impact tag scene on lock, too.
Their run was dominant but never dull, with the carefully woven and patiently told stories adding pathos to those who eventually took the tag and world belts (The Lucha Brothers and Adam Page respectively).
Omega is out injured, but the upcoming Revolution PPV sees new members reDRagon and Adam Cole with the opportunity to bring glory back to The Elite - in AEW, that’s the circle of life.
