10 Great Wrestling Feuds That Produced Disappointing Matches

8. Triple H Vs. Randy Orton

In early 2009, Randy Orton completely snapped, taking out Vince, Shane and Stephanie McMahon. The sudden character change breathed new life into Orton as he quickly ascended to the top of WWE once more, winning the Royal Rumble. His actions drew the ire of Triple H, who got involved in the feud to defend his extended family's honour. The story was personal and the hatred ran deep. As a result, it was violent, vicious and brutal — undoubtedly earning a spot among the greatest feuds of the decade.

Naturally, it all led to a battle between the two men at WrestleMania and, let's just say that the rivalry's appeal stopped here. Despite having so much history behind them, Hunter and Orton didn't really work well together here and produced a rather mediocre match — which was a disappointing main event for WrestleMania's 25th show. It certainly didn't help that this had to go on after The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels brought the house down with their five-star classic, but we could have forgiven that dreadful idea if the match had been particularly memorable.

At the time, Triple H's victory sure felt like the feelgood WrestleMania ending that we deserved, but looking back on it, we can't help but feel like this completely obliterated the momentum of Orton's reinvention.
