10 Great Wrestling Feuds That Produced Disappointing Matches

7. Dean Ambrose Vs. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose really had all the tools to pull off an incredibly physical street fight at WrestleMania 32. One was a fighting machine with no regard for the well-being of his opponent while the other was a screwloose maniac who would throw everything (including the kitchen sink) at his monstrous adversary just to prove that he could stand up to him. Despite our initial concerns, WWE managed to make the program between the odd couple work and it didn't take long for us to get invested.

With this compelling story set to conclude in a No Holds Barred Street Fight, we were hoping for a moderately brutal war that pushed the boundaries of the PG Era while never actually breaking them. The end result, however, was nothing like this. Ambrose really tried to make us buy into the story, but he just kept finding himself on the wrong end of German Suplexes, which quickly made the match feel repetitive. Barbed wire bats were teased yet the match didn't deliver what it promised.

This should have been an easy match to get right, but it was a major letdown that was hindered by bad booking and apparent laziness on Lesnar's part. The only thing it really managed to accomplish was reminding us how brutal these stipulations used to be, and that made us hate this dreadfully disappointing match even more.
