The Undertaker had to call the action at King Of The Ring 1998 for one reason and one reason only: Mick Foley was totally out of it and was barely lucid for the second half of their Hell In A Cell history-maker. Mick, as Mankind, had taken some severe punishment by bumping off the cage through an announce table and then through the thing to the canvas.

He was in no position to start ringing off spots.

'Taker took command of the matter and guided his peer through the rest of the night; Foley was so mentally frazzled that he couldn't even remember bumping on thumb tacks after the match was finished. He scared the sh*t out of some backstage by ignoring his injuries and asking if they'd used the tacks at all. Priorities, Mick.

The end portion to one of wrestling's most iconic matches was improvised by someone with a broken ankle (The Undertaker) and a guy who could hardly even string a sentence together never mind recall what he was supposed to be doing.
