If Vince was angry with John Cena in 2017 for taking reckless bumps, then just imagine how p*ssed he was 12 years earlier when Cena and Batista screwed up the Royal Rumble's finish. Making things worse, McMahon had torn both his quads when marching out to put things right. He must've been absolutely enraged.

All's well that ends well however.

It might be a bit of a stretch to call the '05 Rumble great from beginning to end, but the finish certainly was. When Batista and Cena tumbled out of the ring at the same time, Vince strutted out and directed traffic from the mat, and then 'The Animal' got his scheduled victory, it was clear this'd go straight into the history books as one of the most noteworthy Rumble finishes ever.

People are still talking about this one 15 years on, and that says it all. The closing sequence Cena and Batista called showed they were able to work under pressure and off-the-cuff. It also showed McMahon that he could trust them to put out fires when original WWE plans were ablaze.
