3. Awesome Road Warrior Hawk Promos

You know who was an incredible promo, but is never discussed in league with the greats?

Road Warrior F*cking Hawk. Road Warrior F*cking Hawk in himself validates complaints that a certain badass energy is missing from the modern landscape.

There was a depth to his mic game that many seem to miss when holding those conversations, possibly because, as literally awesome as the act was at its peak, the same could never be said about his in-ring.

His promo game was so overwhelmingly aggressive that it overwhelmed every other tone and verbal flourish, but they were there. He was even scarier, if you can imagine that, when he adopted a quieter, bone-chilling cadence. He was also as funny as f*ck: in addition to marvellously over-the-top threats that created amusing visuals in the mind's eye, of faces being ripped from skulls and the like, Hawk had a knack for absurd wordplay, once describing himself and Animal as "stinkin' nuts," which presumably meant both nasty and reckless, but Tony Schiavone was never going to request clarification.

Even when the act itself peaked, Hawk's mic game remained awesome in its raspy, perfectly-timed deadpan; when, in 1998, X-Pac (as he was wont to do) told him to "suck it," Hawk's pith was magnificent.

"I can't see anything!"
