10 Great WWE Feuds Ruined By One Terrible Angle

6. Vince McMahon's Illegitimate Son Is Revealed

In the summer of 2007, WWE was reeling from the Chris Benoit incident and Vince McMahon wanted a major storyline to bring the promotion back on track and get it out of the darkness. On the August 7th edition of Raw, Johnathan Coachman tracked down McMahon at the end of the show and revealed that McMahon had fathered an illegitimate, long-lost son. Vince's son would be revealed on a later Raw episode and the audience was left with a cliffhanger. Backstage, the plan was for Mr. Kennedy to be revealed as Vince's illegitimate son. That would launch Kennedy into the main event scene and give McMahon a "proper son" to favor over Shane. Unfortunately for WWE, Kennedy went and did the dumbest thing possible and got suspended under the WWE's Wellness Policy for steroid use. This left the storyline with a role that needed to be filled and a cliffhanger that needed to be paid off. Finally, on the September 10th episode, a lawyer called out the entire Raw roster and eliminated them one-by-one. It came down to Triple H being the only one left standing in the ring and, presumably, being revealed as McMahon's son. As an aside, if Hunter was supposedly McMahon's son, then wouldn't his marriage to Stephanie be the creepiest thing on Earth? Thankfully, it was not Hunter. Unfortunately, it was Hornswoggle. Yep, the best replacement that WWE could come up with for Kennedy was a midget. The whole storyline instantly flopped, the audience hated it, and months of storyline were rendered moot.
