10 Great WWE Feuds Ruined By One Terrible Angle

7. Vince McMahon Is The Higher Power

In 1999, Steve Austin's feud with Vince McMahon was in high gear. McMahon had been given enough Stone Cold Stunners for a lifetime and things needed a bit of a shakeup. That came in the form of the Corporate Ministry. The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness targeted the McMahon family and Taker made it known that his goal was to take over the WWF. They kidnapped Vince's previously unseen daughter Stephanie McMahon and threatened to have her marry the Undertaker on live television. This forced Vince McMahon to swallow his pride and ask his greatest enemy, Steve Austin, for help in rescuing Stephanie. Of course, Austin rode in like John Wayne and saved Stephanie, earning the admiration of Vince McMahon and turning Vince into a babyface character. As a result, Shane McMahon fired his father from his own Corporation stable and formed an alliance with the Ministry. The new supergroup was known as the Corporate Ministry. Soon, the stable began talking about a "Higher Power" that they were all listening to. Soon, this Higher Power would reveal itself to the world and the entire WWF would fall to him. The actual plan was for the Higher Power to be revealed to be Jake "The Snake" Roberts, which would have been so awesome that our TVs would have exploded. The Higher Power was supposed to challenge babyface Vince McMahon for control of the WWF. Unfortunately, Roberts was still working out his demons in his personal life, forcing a change of plans. On the June 7th episode of Raw, the Higher Power made his way to the ring revealed himself to be...Vince McMahon. The good thing was that the WWF instantly recognized how stupid this was and immediately dropped the entire angle in favor of some more Austin vs. McMahon. Still, the lost opportunity here was a major disappointment.
