10 Great WWE Feuds That Never Got A PPV Match

2. Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan

Why?

That one word question has been on fan lips since 1992. Why didn't Vince McMahon fancy Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair at WrestleMania VIII, and why did the boss pivot to Hogan vs. Sid Justice and Flair vs. Randy Savage for the supershow instead? According to Bruce Prichard, 'who the f*ck knows?'.

Not even he could explain why the federation ditched plans to promote a title bout between the two biggest names of the 1980s. Hulk and Ric would have to wait until both were in WCW to work on pay-per-view, and that's still baffling. Rumours that the match performed poorly on house shows in late-1991 don't sound convincing enough.

Even if live event business didn't go through the roof, there was still enough meat on the bone to make Hogan vs. Flair 'Mania worthy. Ric had cost Hulk the WWF Title against The Undertaker at Survivor Series '91, and proclaimed himself the "Real World Champion" for months.
