It's impossible to have a completely botch free Rumble, but few mistakes have ever been on this level.

The 2005 Royal Rumble match came down to two rapidly rising stars in WWE: John Cena and Batista.

Both were graduates of OVW, both were young, and both were scheduled to win world titles at the upcoming WrestleMania 21. So, it really didn't matter who won the match, right? Well, as it turns out, they almost both won the match.

Batista was attempting to dump Cena out of the ring with a Batista Bomb, but Cena countered with a head scissor. Cena was supposed to fall out of the ring whilst Batista held on, making him the winner. What happened instead was Batista lost his grip on the rope and fell to the floor at exactly the same time as Cena. Oops.

Things got even stranger when Vince McMahon furiously strutted down to the ring and proceeded to bark orders whilst sitting in the ring. Why was he sitting? Because he'd torn both of his quads trying to enter. Honestly, you couldn't make this stuff up.

The match was eventually restarted with Batista picking up the win, but this is a classic example of a botch actually making a match more memorable.

Vince tearing his quads was just a bonus.
