10 Great WWE Matches With One Notable Botch
2. Kurt Angle Vs. Brock Lesnar (WrestleMania XIX)
The main event of WrestleMania XIX ended with one competitor with a broken neck and one with a concussion. And people say wrestling isn't real.
Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle's rivalry in the early 2000s is the stuff of legend. They dominated the SmackDown main event scene and rightfully so, as both men had a freakish mixture of speed, power, technical prowess, and charisma.
Their most high-profile bout took place in the main event of WrestleMania XIX, when Brock challenged for Kurt's WWE Championship. A big match deserved a big moment, but it was this big moment that almost cost Lesnar his neck.
The planned finish of the match had Lesnar hitting Angle with a Shooting Star Press to pick up the win. A spectacular sight, but not one that audiences were treated to that night.
Instead, millions of viewers watched on in horror as Lesnar under-rotated on the move and landed right on the top of his head. It's a testament to Lesnar's muscle mass that he was able to walk ever again, let alone finish the match with an F5.
The bizarre thing is that Lesnar used to hit the Shooting Star Press all the time; it was a regular part of repertoire in developmental. However, on this night, it wasn't meant to be and had this been anyone other than The Beast, things may have ended much, much worse.
