9 Great WWE Storylines That Were Dropped Way Too Quickly

6. Who Ran Over Steve Austin?

Designed solely to write Steve Austin out of storylines, the fact that the single biggest superstar of the entire 'Attitude Era' had been knocked down by some nefarious being before his WWF Title match at the 1999 Survivor Series really should have made for an epic angle. Upon his return from real-life neck surgery, Austin should have been on the warpath and provided a red-hot opponent.

In fairness to the writing team, they tried to create a new main event star out of the situation, penning Rikishi in as the driver. Sadly for the big man, he bizarrely kept wearing the comedic thong he had been donning as part of the mid-card light relief known as 'Too Cool', and fans found it hard to take him seriously all of a sudden as a top flight bad-ass.

Facing Austin at No Mercy in a decent brawl, the whole thing nonetheless felt a little overwhelming, as though the promotion had rushed into things without much thought. Rather quickly, Triple H was parlayed into proceedings, revealing himself to the mastermind, and Rikishi was shoved out of the picture. Instead of feeling monumental, the angle felt a little wasted, if not a bit fleeting.

Why was the man behind it revealed so quickly anyway? There was a lot of room to drag things out much longer.
