9 Great WWE Storylines That Were Dropped Way Too Quickly

2. Vince McMahon's Death

In retrospect, this particular storyline never really had a hope in hell of getting off the ground, due to the grisly circumstances surrounding the death of then-WWE talent Chris Benoit. It seems that Vince McMahon was eager to write himself off of television, going out in the most fiery way possible (literally), entering a limousine during the June 11th, 2007 episode of Raw, before the vehicle then promptly burst into flame.

The angle was canned once details started to come out about what had happened in the Benoit household, and McMahon was back on screes rapidly as a result. This entry stands as one of the only ones that WWE's creative department have a reason for ending quickly, because it would have been in mighty poor taste to continue pretending that McMahon was dead after news surfaced about the Benoit situation.

Who knows where this one would have led, but it seems likely that the company would have followed it up in some form or fashion, perhaps launching an off-shoot angle designed to find out exactly who was behind Vince's demise.
