The match shared by Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam 2002 might well be a contender for wrestling's best ever opener, so rare is it to see two legitimate industry legends placed at the very foot of the card.

Yet ask most fans what they remember about the show and there's a good chance they will point to either Shawn Michaels' emotional roller-coaster of a street fight with best friend turned sworn enemy Triple H, or Brock Lesnar's maiden world title victory against The Rock.

Even those booking the event seemed to forget about Angle and Rey a little. How else do you explain the fact that they were only allowed to go a mere nine-and-a-half minutes?

It's kind of a travesty that these two weren't afforded the opportunity to put on a genuine five-star bout, and therefore this one forever goes down as a tantalising glimpse as what could have been.
