Rey Mysterio’s first run as World Heavyweight Champion was marred with ups and downs. Looking back, his reign was fairly lengthy, he defeated some of WWE’s top stars, and he main evented WrestleMania to win it in the first place. But there was something very off about his time at the top.

A superstar well-respected and admired, Rey was finding himself on the losing end of matches against the likes of Mark Henry and The Great Khali, while tying with Kane and Sabu. What’s more, he was constantly fighting with Chavo Guerrero who never even had a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. All in all, it was a mediocre run for such a gifted athlete.

Mysterio had another run with the WHC in 2010 and the WWE Championship in 2011, but the less said about those title reigns the better. Fortunately, the company's 'Biggest Little Man' never needed gold around his waist to be popular. For years, fans have tuned in to see Rey's exciting in-ring style, and to this day children still don Mysterio masks of their own to show their support.
