6. Neville - WWE Cruiserweight Champion
The Cruiserweight division was a bit of a shambles in late 2016. WWE tried to capitalise on the popularity of the Cruiserweight Classic, but their project crumbled under the weight of expectation. None of the wrestlers were afforded any real character time, and they did little with the minimal time they got.
That was until Neville walked down to the ring and clocked Cruiserweight champion Rich Swann clean in the jaw at Roadblock: End Of The Line. With that, he had turned heel, and the fortunes of the division began to turn. Far and away the most intriguing character on 205 Live, Neville is the perfect candidate to lead. His matches against Jack Gallagher and Austin Aries were among the best parts of Fastlane and 'Mania. Though the division is still struggling to find its feet, they're much better off with Neville than they were without him.
Some wrestlers build companies as champion, others build divisions. Neville has helped the purple brand climb to new heights, and we should expect more of the same in 2017.
