10 Greatest Champions In Professional Wrestling Today

5. Hiromu Takahashi - IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion

neville cruiserweight title

New Japan built the 'Ticking Time Bomb' for months before revealing that it was in reference to a returning Hiromu Takahashi. The man formerly known as Kamaitachi made it known immediately that his sights were set on the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

Hiromu vs Kushida was one of many stellar matches to be wildly outshone by Omega and Okada, but it was at Wrestle Kingdom XI that the IWGP Jr. belt found its way into the hands of Hiromu. Since then he's damn near killed himself, again and again, to retain that title. Bringing some added legitimacy to the LIJ faction, Hiromu has seen off plenty of challenges from the NJPW locker room. Ryusuke Taguchi took a stab but came up short. Dragon Lee flew halfway across the world in pursuit of his old rival, but left empty-handed. Then there was Kushida's two minute demolition at Sakura Genesis.

We may be in the era of a new Jr. Ace. As Best of the Super Juniors rolls around, people are already predicting a potential tournament win for the champion.

That's the kind of speculation that surrounds a champion who is strong as hell.
