9. Brother Love Gets Bushwhacked
The April 29, 1989 episode of The Brother Love Show went south quickly for the sunburned evangelist. His special guests were the comedy tag team combination of Luke and Butch, The Bushwhackers. The former blood thirsty Sheepherders were early into their WWE run and in the process of developing their new light-hearted persona.
Luke and Butch made their entrance while eating sardines from a metal bowl. Their mouths were wide open while they talked and chewed. Brother Love responded by launching into a tirade about manners.
The Bushwhackers soon grew impatient with Love’s comments and their antics escalated. Butch bit off Love’s rose right off his white suit jacket. That was followed by The Bushwhackers assaulting Love with the sardines. The coup de grace was Love having his sardine infested tie jammed into his mouth. It was a key non-wrestling moment that helped The Bushwhackers become one of the most popular teams in WWE.
