‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase was one of the great WWE villains of the late 1980s. His willingness to use his wealth to take shortcuts, despite being a great in-ring technician, made DiBiase an easy man to hate. He also infuriated fans by ridiculing the working class and the less fortunate while boasting that “Everyone has a price for The Million Dollar Man”.

DiBiase used the March 4, 1989 episode of The Brother Love Show to unveil his new ‘Million Dollar Championship’ belt. It was his response to WWE President Jack Tunney stripping him of the WWE Championship which he had bought from Andre the Giant. As a result, it was no longer a worthy enough prize for his attention.

After unveiling the belt, Brother Love exclaimed, “Behold the Million Dollar Championship!” The belt, although rarely “defended”, would become synonymous with ‘The Million Dollar Man’ and is still a very popular belt among wrestling fans.
