3. The Undertaker Under New Management
The Undertaker was a guest on The Brother Love Show that was taped on January 28, 1991. Brother Love had been managing him since he made his debut at Survivor Series 1990. ‘The Deadman’ was still undefeated and his star was starting to soar.
However, Brother Love immediately dropped a bombshell that he could not give The Undertaker the attention he required due to being too busy spreading his “message of love.” As a result, he found an individual who could guide the career of The Undertaker. Love introduced Paul Bearer and the rest is history.
The move from Love to Bearer is one of the great managerial transactions in wrestling history. The Paul Bearer character was a much better fit for The Undertaker. It evolved into one of the greatest manager-wrestler tandems of all time. The Undertaker and Paul Bearer were beginning a long successful run together while Brother Love would soon be heading to the shelf.
