9. The Dangerous Alliance

In the grander scheme of the wrestling business, it was brief, it was cut criminally short and it didn't even touch the tip of the iceberg as to what it could've become... but man, was the WCW iteration of the Dangerous Alliance phenomenal.

Without any sense of hyperbole, few stables can claim to have such sheer quality from top to bottom as the Dangerous Alliance group that was assembled in late 1991.

You've got one of the all-time greatest talkers and managers in Paul Heyman; there's your bona fide main event superstar in 'Ravishing' Rick Rude; there's 'The First Lady of WCW' Madusa; there's a Larry Zbyszko who had been to war with Bruno Sammartino; there's an Arn Anderson who was viewed as the glue of the Four Horsemen; there's a 'Beautiful' Bobby Eaton who is revered as one of the all-time great workers; and there's a young up 'n' comer called 'Stunning' Steve Austin.

The first seeds of this faction began at Halloween Havoc '91. Having been fired as a commentator, Dangerously made his return with a manager's license under his belt, revealing Madusa and a debuting Rude as being under his stewardship.

Skip ahead to the 23 November episode of World Championship Wrestling - by which time Rude had dethroned Sting as the United States Champion - and Paul E. gave a brilliant rollcall as he added Zbyszko, Anderson, Austin and Eaton to his charge and fully fleshed out this group.

It's just a damn shame that the wheels of the Dangerous Alliance began to come off barely six months later at WrestleWar '92.
